Streamlining

Note that this information is now outdated. We have decided to startover the streamlining built around a solid structure.

The idea here is to build a streamline tail section and underneath section. Both have to meet the Dry Lake rules

By shear luck the guy behind the counter was also thinking about running on a Dry Lake and was already forming car body parts out of foam... so I got some very expert adivce.
 

I will be using Dalchem - GP2 Foam. The proceedure will be to wax the scooter on the sections I will be streamlining. This needs 5-10 coats of wax and some gladwrap to protect the scooter body work. By using the scooter as a form, it will save cutting and shaping that part later.

The rest will be very roughly cast with cardboard covered with plastic packing tape. We will end up with two big ugly lumps, one molded to the tail section and the other to underneath. From here we shape them to be beautiful sculptures of scooter streamlining. Once complete, the finish will be resin which will protect and can be painted.
